Project Outline
Making a local restaurant a must-go destination
Ben and Sashana had an exciting vision for a restaurant and food research centre in a quiet corner of Edinburgh. Our first meeting was among paint cans and unboxed furniture as the restaurant took shape. Eido's role was to find the right visual seasoning to bring out the best in their inspiring concept.
Clarity & Story
The story was already clear. They had run a successful crowdfunding campaign and were set on gathering people around the idea of 'keeping food interesting'. Chefs, performers, suppliers and customers all came together to explore food, keep it fresh, and full of joy.
Design & Touchpoints
Edinburgh Food Studio needed simple elegance that let the people and food take centre stage. Ben wanted a design that reflected their scientific approach to food. Crisp, clean typography and food cross-sections resembling local coastlines were paired with quality materials to carry a message of thoughtful, scientific luxury. A shock of pink hinted at the underlying punk in this new addition to the Edinburgh food scene.
Results
Edinburgh Food Studio went on to win numerous awards and create a 'world class' website experience for visitors from across the globe, plus shop livery and brand system to match.
"Andy has a way of understanding his client's style in order to work around that...superb service." – Sashana, Edinburgh Food Studio
